Courtyard Plaza

Current Park and Old Court Theater

The park sits on the property of the old "Court Theater". The original theater was held in the Court Building in 1916 on Third Street (pictured below). The Theater caught on fire at an early hour fo July 12, 1945, damaged Court's theater to such and extent that it was made useless for further operations.  As a result a new theater was built on Third Street (now Main Street) next to the Library (now the Historical Society).

The Court Theater as well as the Court Family were true pioneers to Livingston, while the theater has created many wonderful memories for our residents, it's Art Deco structure was a diamond for the downtown in its early days. The Livingston Historical Society has a collection of pictures, movie posters, history and memories shared by our residents.
