2023/24 Youth Basketball

We offer basketball starting at 3 years of age and go through 8^th grade. Our program is not competitive and we focus on teaching kids the fundamentals of basketball to give them the skills in the event they want to play for the school teams or “competitive ball" they will have the skills to do so.  From 3 years through kindergarten they are taught in a clinic format. How to dribble, what is the basket, who is the referee mostly foundational instruction. Once they reach 1^st grade we start playing games and the kids continue to learn and practice fundamentals at their age level. Games are played usually on Saturdays however we have to use school facilities so if they have an event scheduled it affects the days we play. They have one indoor practice and one outdoor practice per week and a game. The cost is $60 for the season and there is a $5 nonresident if you do not live in Livingston.. the kids get a jersey and medal. Practice begins the week after Thanksgiving and we end the first week of March.Youth Basketball offers fundamental skill instruction to children 3 years of age through the 8th grade. Striving to encourage a love for basketball Livingston Recreation collaborates with the the school districts and staff to offer quality instruction. The department hosts a preseason clinic as well as coach training. Games begin mid January and the season ends the last week of February/first week of March.
